Fabrics and fibers have been an integral part of my life since early childhood. The process of changing a lump of rumpled cloth and tangled fibers into an organized, and sometimes functional, structure fascinates me. In my quilts and liturgical art you’ll see my love of many different fiber and surface design techniques: dyeing, printing, weaving, sewing and embroidery. Mary Anne
Mary Anne Caplinger is the author of two books and many articles for publication in textile periodicals. An enthusiastic teacher, she encourages students to experiment with innovative combinations of colors and textures for personal expression. She has an MA in art education from Appalachian State University and has lectured and taught workshops for quilters and weavers for the past 30 years. Her commisioned works hang in churches and residences around the world.
